ESD Grounding Mats
Dry air means static electricity. This can be annoying and even damaging to electronics if you don’t discharge yourself before touching your audio equipment. Getting into the habit of touching a grounding mat first does the trick. This practice is highly recommended when your environment is less than 50% relative humidity.
After writing about this, people reached out to tell me about how they damaged their expensive equipment with Electro-Static Discharge (ESD). Therefore, we felt there was a need to offer a grounding mat.

The build-up and sudden electro-static discharge can be anywhere from a few hundred to tens of thousands of Voltz. There are some computer components that are sensitive to just 10 volts. We typically don’t feel them unless they are greater than 3,000 volts. You can hear the arc when they are greater than 5,000 volts.
Though electronic equipment should have internal protection, it is never good to assume that it does, that it is optimally grounded, or that the protection is not yet near the end of its life.
Directions:
1. Remove the protective film from the bottom of the pad
2. Plug the mat into a confirmed properly grounded receptacle
3. Simply touch your AVRS Grounding Mat before touching your
equipment.
4. The mat can be trimmed to fit with scissors if needed.
Description: 4”x6” mat with 12’ cord and three-prong U.S. plug, 6 oz. Made in USA.
Simply touching the grounded mat will dissipate any electro-static charge build-up to equalize the potential to ground.
